Ocean’s 8 (2018)

A clever, easy-going comedy that everyone should give a go!
Upon her release from prison, the estranged sister of a legendary conman- Debbie- gathers together an all-female crew to attempt an impossible heist at the yearly Met Gala.
Starring Cate Blanchett (MLC alumni!!!) and many other renowned, fabulous actresses, this movie will not fail to constantly surprise and delight you.
Watching the friendship between these women blossom from this thrilling experience is also incredibly heart-warming

Gifted (2017)

Frank Adler is a single man, raising his late sister’s child prodigy- Mary- who inherited her mother’s promising mathematical skills.
All Frank ever wanted was to fulfil his sister’s wish of providing Mary with a normal childhood and school life.
However, all is foiled when Mary’s grandmother discovers Mary’s amazing intellect and decides that her “one-in-a-billion” granddaughter should be specially tutored in preparation for a life devoted to mathematics.

This is a charming, engaging and heart-warming movie.

Five feet apart (2019)

Fetch a box of tissues, grab a handful of your favourite snacks, and snuggle into the warmth of your blankets…you’re in for a sniffly ride.
Stella and Will both have cystic fibrosis and in order to avoid the risk of cross-infection, they must always stay five feet apart from each other.
However, as they start to spend more time together whilst “socially distancing”, it becomes harder to stick to the rules…

Kingsman (2014)

Gary “Eggsy” Unwin’s father died when he was a young boy. One day, after Eggsy causes trouble and is arrested, he calls a number mysteriously given to around the time of his father’s death.
A man named Harry Hart arrives and thereafter, Eggsy is introduced to a private intelligence service, “The Kingsman”, which Eggsy’s father was a part of.
Eggsy takes up Hart’s offer to join and undergoes a gruelling training course to become the next “Lancelot”.
This is a clever, thrilling and adventure-filled movie!

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

This is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer – Freddie Mercury.
The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.
However, in an unexpected turn, Freddie shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. But having suffered without the collaboration of his bandmates, he manages to reunite with them just in time for Live Aid.
Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire people today!

Cool Runnings (1994)

Four Jamaicans form their country’s first ever bobsled team to compete in the upcoming 1988 Winter Olympics.
They enlist the help of a disgraced, former Olympic gold winner to reluctantly coach them.
This truly entertaining and heart-warming story teaches us the message that if you have a dream, go after it, no matter what anyone else says.
It was their teamwork and perseverance that led them to accomplish unprecedented wonders!
(You’ll definitely enjoy a good laugh!)

Knives Out (2019)

An American mystery film that will no doubt capture your attention!
A renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate right after his 85th birthday.
Detective Benoit Blanc is enlisted to investigate this mysterious crime. He must sift through the web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth.

Yet the more attention she receives, the more her private life and relationship becomes affected…which will she choose to pursue?

The Jurassic World Series (2015-2021)

Another science-fiction adventure film series that is undoubtedly worth a try:)
I have watched 2 out of the 3 Jurassic World movies and they were both breathtaking (in a very cool and unique way 😱).
This dinosaur series brings ancient and extinct animals to life, giving us a theme park where Sauropods are the new giraffes and the T-rex is the new lion.
However, human experimentation on these beautiful animals begin to unveil undesirable consequences…

Green Book (2018)

Dr Don Shirley is a world-class African-American classical pianist. Tony Vallelonga, a working class Italian-American bouncer becomes Shirley’s driver for a concert tour into the Deep South states.
Coming from different walks of life, these two men initially have a difficult time getting along.
Yet as the pair witness appalling situations along the road, they find newfound respect for each other’s talents and begin to face challenges together.
This friendship is bound to change both their lives…

Fast and Furious franchise (2001-2021)

This film series is definitely one to watch!
Although action may not be your cup of tea, this series is much more than just cars and racing.
You will follow the 10 main members of Dominic Toretto’s Crew and experience the unbreakable bond they share with each other.
Each member has their own unique background and together they are a uniting force…they are a family.
I personally have only watched the most recent films, but I can’t wait to see how this family was initially formed!

Life of Pi (2012)

A seemingly steady and safe trip out at sea headed to Canada suddenly turns south when a storm strikes out of the blue.
On board are a number of animals from Pi Patel’s family zoo, but only a zebra, orangutan, hyena and aggressive Bengal tiger survives…all gathered on one small lifeboat.
Adrift in the Pacific Ocean with no help nearby, Pi must learn to live with his predator, Richard Parker the Bengal tiger.
The bond they develop is truly unique!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016)

If you enjoyed the book series, then this movie will most definitely bring the characters to life!
Jacob and his father travel to Wales after reading a mysterious letter from Miss Peregrine to Jacob’s grandfather.
During his stay, Jacob ends up discovering a cave portal that winds him back to 1943, where he is introduced to Miss Peregrine and her house of peculiar children.
There, he also discovers his own “peculiarity”, which may be the key to saving the children…and figuring out his grandfather’s peculiar death.

Age of Adaline (2015)

This is most definitely not your average romantic story.
Adaline Bowman was born in 1908; she met her first love and had her first child. On one fateful night, she suffered a fatal car accident yet miraculously survived…at the cost of forever being 29.
She watches as her white-haired friends pass away and her own child gradually age.
Adaline lives through different identities, constantly running…until she meets him.

Rush Hour (1998)

“The fastest hands in the East, meets the biggest mouth in the West.”

They are two cops with nothing in common except the case they’re both assigned to: catch the criminals and save the 11-year-old Chinese girl of the Chinese consul.
Although their distinctive work styles and cultural differences pose hiccups, a true friendship gradually blossoms…creating many hilarious scenes along the way
